COLONISING CYBERSPACE

http://www.swin.edu.au/ssb/media/staff/ja/cyberfem.htm

An article "The politics of Cyberfeminism and writing for Interactive Multi-Media in the IMMaterial world" by Josie Arnold, 1996.

Cyberfeminism is about not being considered or considering oneself as woman-as-other in cyberspace. In this paper the author is acting as a surveyor of the newly discovered electronic terrain of cyberspace that is currently being colonised. She forwards the metaphor of aerial mapping as she looks for signs of poetics, particularly feminist poetics. In treating cyberspace as a text, she considers how there is no electronic utopia because there is no anterior position to the dominant conceptual frameworks that we bring to the colonisation of cyberspace.

Men For Change

http://www.cfn.cs.dal.ca/CommunitySupport/Men4Change/wstory.html

"Men For Change is a pro-feminist organization. As men, we continue to grow by sharing our own stories and by listening to the stories of women. We have a great deal to learn from our partners, daughters, mothers and friends who challenge and support us as we review and reconstruct our relationships and notions of power.

Listening to women (as well as sharing our own stories) is a fundamental step towards ending the division and intolerance of sexism that isolates us all from forming authentic relationships and bringing about lasting social change.

  • What does it mean for a man to be a profeminist?
  • Why feminism is good for men...
  • Feminism and Male Bashing
  • If all this feminist crap bugs you...

We invite men to listen, even though it may be difficult to hear their anger, pain and blame, to the voices of women..."
