COMMUNITY+OPENNESS+RESEARCH
No longer will it just be a group of hidden contributors deciding what will and what won’t face the world. We won’t just show our project or ones of others that we decide on. We will no longer confine ourselves to those at CADRE or even San Jose. Since 1995 we have given you innovative projects and research developed in the Silicon Valley. However this read-only twice a year format is no longer acceptable.
The New SWITCH will invite continuous participation through a new interactive format. What we are presenting to you now, is only the beginning. We are launching the New SWITCH with a Call for Entries. This exhibition will invite technology, art and innovation to address pressing global issues.
You.
Us and You. We. Together we can create a community of peer-reviewed work, interactivity, innovation and openness. SWITCH cannot occur without you and true creativity cannot occur without a community willing to share, critique and inspire. You are an integral part in putting SWITCH on the edge.
Going even further allowing for a platform of open research that will allow those in one discipline to benefit from those in another. Practitioners are encouraged to take advantage of the academic community at San Jose State University by publishing their work on SWITCH while the academy provides additional application and research to their already existing project.
The SWITCH team came together to evaluate what it really means to be a journal art new media and what the journal needs to do to be the “go to” source of today. We came up with a set of values, themes and a new mission. We invite you to comment and participate in these.
Mission:
SWITCH is interested in fostering a critical viewpoint on issues and developments in the complex, and sometimes opaque crossovers between art and technology through practice, research, outreach, and participation.
