+ + CARNE - Carnivore Network Visualization

CARNE presents real-time network traffic as a three dimensional space that can be navigated by the user. It visualizes the transient relationships between the currents of data that a networked computer is immersed in.

Each unique IP address is assigned a point, and a unique trajectory. The more active a given IP address is, the more it is pushed away from the center. Inactive IP addresses drift back towards the center and dissapear. Messages between IP addresses are visualized as lines connecting them. The thicker end of the line indicates a message received. Messages being sent via more common ports are assigned a color. Green for webpage requests, blue for instant messaging, and yellow for email. In addition, the point assigned to the IP address from which CARNE is being run is colored orange for reference.
