Joel Slayton is a recognized artist, writer and new media theoretician. He is currently Professor of Digital Media Art at San Jose State University and has been Director of the CADRE Laboratory for New Media since 1991. Professor Slayton is also the Executive Editor of SWITCH, CADRE's on-line journal of critical and theoretical discourse involving new media. He is currently President of the C5 Corporation, a business as art venture specializing in theoretical models, analysis and tactical implementations of information technology. He serves on the Board of Directors of Leonardo/ISAST, where he is Chairperson of the Leonardo/MIT Press Book Series, and on the board of ZeroOne, a Silicon Valley non-profit organization dedicated art and technology project incubation.
