One of my favorite projects here at the festival has to be DriftNet by Norimichi Hirakawa, creator of Global Bearings. The work analyzes a series of web sites by their content and their load time, and re-synthesizes the data into digital waves and topography. The colors of the web site influence the hues that appear in the waves, and a sonification of ambient audio is produced through wave motion.

BodyDaemon is a bio-responsive Internet server created by Carlos Castellanos. Readings taken from a participant's physical states, as measured by custom biofeedback sensors, are used to power and configure a fully-functional Internet server. The data collected by the wearable sensors is sent out to client applications which can visualize or sonify the data in unlimited ways. Carlos invites people to come to his exhibit in the South Hall and strap themselves in to the sensors and have their own biorhythms visualized and sonified.
